194,567 homeless veterans
Our nation has an average of 194,567 homeless veterans sleeping on the streets. As a nation I feel it is our turn to take care of those who have selflessly given of themselves to help our country.
700 MILES
I am asking for your help in this endeavor. I will partake on a 700-mile road cycling journey that will start in Auburn, Washington and end in Dallas, Texas. My goal is to raise money and awareness to assist veterans in need.
The Ride Home
Welcome to The Ride Home. My name is Andrew Tavlarides and I’d like to welcome you aboard in the fight to stop homeless Veterans and their families from living on the streets. I have been riding bikes my whole life, 35 years to be exact. It wasn’t until I got to Hawaii that I competed in Bicycle Moto Cross or BMX. I have always wanted to try it and give it a go and at the tender age of 35 I began.
Amid BMX, I also took up road cycling and mountain biking. All three sports keep me extremely active and in quite descent shape. As I transitioned to the State of Washington, I noticed an epidemic that I often turned a blind eye too, homeless veterans. As an upright citizen I have always been taught to pay things forward. When I get the chance, I will give what I can, help when I can. I truly wish there was more that I could do, but I am only one person.
I want to give back to the veterans that gave up so much of themselves to defend our country. One of the Corps Values in the Military is Selfless Service. I have decided that I am going to road cycle from Auburn Washington to Dallas Texas talking with local communities and raising money and awareness for various homeless veteran programs.
Join me, on a 700 mile road cycling event that will push you to give of yourself to help reduce the number of homeless veterans across our great country.
The Vision
In the hopes of making a difference, I am making every effort possible to address a problem affecting the United States in staggering amounts. Our nation has an average of 194,567 homeless veterans sleeping on the streets. As a nation, I feel it is our turn to take care of those who have selflessly given of themselves to help our country.
As a proud citizen of this country, I can’t help noticing the crisis affecting these veterans. I make every effort I can to help those in need, but I can’t do it alone. I have made it a personal mission to devote the next few years of my life to those who fought for the freedom that we all love and cherish.
I am asking for your help in this endeavor. I will partake on a 700-mile road cycling journey that will start in Auburn, Washington and end in Dallas, Texas. My goal is to raise money and awareness to assist veterans in need. I have joined small businesses within my community that have the same goals that I do.
Together we can come together to make a difference.
